Hi parents, ever wonder why your child might be hyper self-critical? Negativity bias is the notion that our brains privilege one negative experience over several positive experiences. Now imagine how your child might feel if they were selected last to be a part of a group or team? Perhaps sad, and maybe even embarrassed? These feeling don’t dissipate immediately. They in fact get obsessed over, and furthermore carried into the home, and you, the parent, might be wondering at this point, “What’s going on? Why is my child upset or irritable.” The good news is, there are things we can do in therapy to help our children.
