Healthy self-esteem development in children and adolescents by Dr. Munn Saechao, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist in Mountain View, CA and Online Therapist for Professional Women of Color

Dear parents, no matter how much your child or teen is interested in their peers, they still need your unconditional attention and the experience of being heard by you. Taking the time to check in with them in spite your hectic schedule, listen and reflect back without judgment, allows your child to feel validated and therefore seen and understood by you. Children need this in order to develop a healthy self esteem. Take a moment in your day to be intentional, listen attentively, and reflect back what you heard. You’ll be amazed at how this nurtures a healthy bond and healthy self-esteem development overtime.
